The Favorite (Happily Ever After Companion Book) Pt 1 This takes place before The One The Guard (Happily Ever After Companion Book) The Prince (Happily Ever After Companion Book) The Queen (Happily Ever After Companion Book) The second could be read before or after depending upon the reader.

Please look below for that because two of the stories should be read before the first book. The book is great but you have to read it in a particular order with the other books in the series. I found this review on amazon that explains it perfectly: Happily Ever After contains stories during, before, or after the selection in the point of view of different character, like Celeste, Queen Amberly (during her own selection! Which was so cool!), Lucy, Marlee, Maxon (the prince), and Aspen (the guard). I own all of the books i listed above and I bought Happily Ever After instead of The Prince and The Guard because Happily Ever After includes The Prince and The Guard.

I'm rereading The Selection right now for that reason, also because there's supposed to be a movie soon! :D The book recommendations don't have to have all of these things, just whatever you think I would like based off of what I've described. I want books that I can relax and escape into for a while, and go back to when I need something familiar. I'm really picky about what I read, because I have anxiety and I just can't enjoy some books anymore. Elves, fairies, and magical creatures are okay, though.)

I don't want anything supernatural (no vampires, werewolves, witches, demons.

A long series or big book (just don't have the energy for that, honestly).Something really love triangle heavy (yes it happened in The Selection, but it wasn't too bad, sometimes it just makes me roll my eyes though).Some books I like: The Selection series by Kiera Cass, The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, Entwined by Heather Dixon, Heidi A good setting in a book is like ambience in writing. I think it's so beautiful and such great writing when I get to see the setting in my head as I read. I don't read many books with good set ups for scenes and it makes me sad. I like setting descriptions too, as long as the author doesn't spend half a page on it. The dresses and outfits were described in such a natural way, like the character was looking at themselves in a mirror or reflecting on their outfit, not listing every detail just because. Part of what I love about The Selection (and what I've heard is so great about An Enchantment of Ravens) is the descriptions.I've been meaning to read An Enchantment of Ravens but haven't yet.

Part of why I love The Selection so much is because I love to imagine my life as the main character (what would I do in her situation, how would I dress, how would I feel? It's such pleasant daydream material.) Simply because I like to read as if I'm that character, and I can't relate as much if it's a male mc. I would like a female main character, and a male love interest.I enjoy historical fictional themes (think pride and prejudice), too, so that's an added bonus if it is.And it makes a slowburn romance a lot nicer, in my opinion. I've fallen out of reading and want to read more often but I find it very difficult to get through long books nowadays. But I am an adult so if there's some content it might be okay, or if theres mention of innapropriate content it's okay, but I would prefer something that I would feel comfortable recommending to others. I want a little romance, but not instalove (instalove is okay if its just cute, like a crush).(for example: I love The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, it's one of my fav. I don't really want magic, but light magic is okay.I like that the Selection is believable enough to happen, but not totally contemporary (which I find boring).(for example, I read The Maze Runner and the main character was so depressed and mopey the whole time about death and whatever that it's genuinely my least favorite read of all time) I don't like a lot of violence or dread, I don't want an emotionally heavy book. Also, I'm so tired of the chosen one trope. I just want something tame, that isn't a boring contemporary about a girl who needs to 'find herself'. It's hard for me to find fantasy or fiction ya books that aren't about magical, sword wielding, murdering, main characters with super grey morals and so much unreasonable angst.
